KTM is an Austrian motorcycle company that specializes in making 2-stroke and 4-stroke motorcycles for street and off-road riding. It was originally founded in 1934 by an Austrian engineer, Johann (Hans) Trunkenpolz, as a metal-working and a locksmith shop. However, the company produced its first motorcycle prototype in 1951 known as R100 which eventually went into production in 1954. In 2007, KTM and Bajaj Auto of India entered into a technological partnership with the latter acquiring 14.5% stake in the former. Since then, Bajaj’s stake has grown over 47%. Currently, KTM and Bajaj manufacturer and sell following motorcycles in India – Duke 200, Duke 250, Duke 390, RC 200 and RC 390.
